In February of 2014, Jennifer was a full time hairstylist, mom, and fitness competitior when she started having pain in her breast. After a mammogram and biopsy, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 triple positive invasive ductal carcinoma aka breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy, 4 months of chemo, 30 sessions of radiation, and 1 year of Herceptin before being declared in remission. Just when she thought she could put cancer in her rearview mirror, in 2020, she was told the cancer had returned as Stage 3. This resulted in her having a total hysterectomy, surgery for removal of the tumor, and 20 rounds of radiation. 2 years later, the cancer returned as Stage 4.  Her doctors prescribed Kisqali and hormone blockers to keep the cancer at bay, but in 2024, Jennifer learned the cancer had spread to her spine, ribs, pelvis, and cranial bone, and as a result of the tumors, her back was fractured in 3 places.  Jennifer had emergency spinal surgery to insert 2 rods and 10 screws in her back.  She has to travel to MD Anderson in Texas for targeted therapy treatment, and she also has monthly oncology appointments to monitor the spread of the disease. Jennifer will be fighting this battle until treatment stops working.

Jennifer will be battling cancer for the rest of her life, which leaves little time or money to do anything else or save and plan for a vacation.
